How to add a LUT in CapCut (desktop and phone)
On desktop, CapCut imports your own .cube LUTs in a few clicks. On your phone it's a different story: here's what actually works today.

BeforeAfterOn desktop (Windows and Mac)
- Open your editLaunch CapCut on your computer: LUT import lives in the desktop app.
- Import the LUTIn the left panel, open the Adjustment tab, then LUT, click Import and pick your .cube file. CapCut also accepts .3dl.
- Apply itApply the LUT to your clip. To keep the same look across the edit, do the same on every clip, or place it above your clips on the timeline if your version allows it.
- Set the intensityAn intensity slider sets how strong the look is. A look often feels more natural a little below the maximum.
Menu names change from one CapCut version to the next. If you don't see LUT under Adjustment, update CapCut.
On your phone (iPhone and Android)
As of today, CapCut only documents importing your own LUTs for its desktop app. In the phone app, the option isn't guaranteed: if your version shows an Import button next to the LUTs, the method is the same; if not, here are three ways around it.
Three ways that work
- Apply the LUT in CapCut desktop, export, then finish your edit on your phone.
- Use a mobile editor that imports .cube files, such as LumaFusion.
- Grade in your browser with Color Studio, Backstage Color's online grading studio: it works on phones too.
Is your clip shot in log (S-Log3, D-Log M, Apple Log…)?
A log clip looks grey: convert it first. Put your camera brand's official conversion LUT on the clip, then your creative LUT on top. The why is explained in Why does my S-Log3 look grey.
Why does my LUT make the image too contrasty or orange?
It probably expects a different starting image: log, or on the contrary an image already in Rec.709. Check which profile it's built for, fix exposure and white balance first, then lower the intensity.
What about CapCut online, in the browser?
CapCut only documents LUT import for its desktop app. For your own .cube files, use the desktop app.
